So how much are you folks charging for that type of work these days? Their idea is to have me on as-needed in a consultant/contractor capacity with an hourly rate. It's not like I'm the only one who could figure it out but I'm pretty uniquely positioned. I have notes on the planned improvements, all of that. I made tweaks and updates to the show's files as necessary to fix bugs, to adjust cues, and to improve the experience of the people actually running the show. I handled adding custom touches into the show when they had corporate customers (and I pitched the company ways to make more money off of this). It's worth saying that since I was in charge of programming and a lot of the design for about 3-4 years, I know this show (and its files) very intimately.

They brought me on full time before the company closed and now they're back. Later, the head of the company told me she thought that was not a competitive rate and suggested that she could try to do better for me down the line. A couple years ago, they used to pay me $50/hr for this kind of work. Most of it is programming but there are creative/design decisions I make while doing this (it's not like anyone is telling me exactly what to do and I'm just pushing the buttons for them). It's a show in NYC, run through Qlab but also working with Isadora and some specific programs like Mosaic Designer. For corporate video programming on Qlab in NYC, you’d find it hard to get me in the room for less than 70-80/hr with a 10 hour minimum. Push for 10hr minimums, but perhaps give an option of 5hr minimum with OT rate starting at the 6th hour.
